Located practically in our own backyard, Whitecliff Vineyard in Gardiner, NY produces a highly respected and diverse portfolio of fine wines. Founded in 1979 by husband-and-wife team Michael Migliore and Yancey Stanforth-Migliore, Whitecliff Vineyard has been one of the leading voices in the Hudson Valley for winemaking. Michael has lived on the property since 1975; he studied organic chemistry at SUNY New Paltz and worked for IBM as a chemical engineer; soon after, he began experimenting with grape growing. They now have one of the largest vineyards in the Hudson Valley, with over 20 varietals planted. This is their first low-intervention wine, being fermented with only ambient yeasts and bottled unfined and unfiltered. It tastes relatively clean, with a touch of button mushroom and potting soil on the nose. It shows classic riesling fruit profiles on the palate with a drying acidity on the finish. Low-intervention, vegan.
