Daniel and Jonas Brand are two dynamic and ambitious winemakers breathing life into the northern reaches of the Pfalz region, where they are tending the land with care and growing vibrant wines. From Stephen of Vom Boden (our importer): "[Daniel and Jonas's] father, Jürgen, was one of the first advocates for environmentally conscious agriculture, joining an important organic organization in 1994. However, it wasn’t until Daniel came into the winery in 2014 that they made the transition to organic viticulture. Starting with vintage 2018, they are certified organic. They are also pursuing parts of the biodynamic philosophies, with the very real desire to understand and integrate its principles, without necessarily blindly following the ideology. The brothers, for their own parts, have worked with a bevy of “who’s who” producers including Lise and Bertrand Jousset in the Loire, and Alwin Jurtschitsch in Austria’s Kamptal. Brand made the first Pet-Nat in Germany, [and] this is one of the clearest, cleanest, most precise and light-weight Pet-Nats out there. Salty and citrus-driven, you'll go crazy trying to figure out how a wine grown in the middle of Germany can taste so much like the ocean. About 60% Pinot Blanc and 40% Silvaner." Organically grown, low-intervention, vegan.
