The mission statement of Pinot Project: “A wine for the palate, the pocket, and the people.” In 2009 wine importer Michael Skurnik decided to put his experience in the wineries of Northern California to good use, creating a silky, fruitful, and approachable pinot noir. Today, Pinot Project is one of the most popular value-driven California pinot noirs, made with grapes from Sonoma and Monterey counties with some Central Coast fruit as well. It is fermented in stainless steel, and 20% of the blend is aged for 5 months in French oak, resting for 6 months in bottle before release. The result is a pinot with exuberant red fruit and rose petal aromas and a smooth palate of generous dark fruit and exotic spices.
