Patrick Piuze burst onto the US wine scene with his fabulous 2008 vintage wines, 20 different bottlings, 19 of which being Chablis. A Montreal native, he has since become somewhat of a rock star in Chablis since he arrived in 2000, working with Oliver Leflaive in Puligny Montrachet and for Jean-Marc Brocard and Jean-Marie Guffens before starting his own label. Piuze works with purchased fruit, and his relationships with the growers of Chablis have allowed him access to choice parcels in all of the great sites, and he harvests by hand, yet another contributing factor to his spectacular wines. Chichée is on a plateau near the 1er Cru Vaucoupin vineyard and it always takes the wind of the vintage - if it’s from the south, warm character; from the north, cooler notes. The chardonnay grapes are vinified and aged in stainless steel, and the wine is very mineral driven with a core of bright grapefruit, but with a little bit of weight and roundness on the palate. Sustainably grown.
