One of the oldest producers of Barolo, Oddero was founded in 1878. The patriarch, Giacomo Oddero, has worked for many years to protect tradition, not only for winemaking, but also for the traditional foods of the Langhe, including cheese, truffles, and hazelnuts. He has since handed the reins of the winery to his two daughters, Mariavittoria and Mariacristina, who has a viticulture and enology degree. Mariavittoria’s daughter, Isabella, has also brought new energy and focus to the vineyards and cellars. Isabella maintains that the nebbiolo from their zone in the Langhe is more elegant and perfumed than others of the region, and possesses less of a harsh tannic structure. Why not taste for yourself: this 100% nebbiolo is full of bright, juicy red fruit and floral aromas with savory tones and a streak of earthiness. Aging for 18 months in oak barrels adds additional depth and spice. It is drinking beautifully now, but could also be aged for a few years. Certified organic.
