Bodegas Sierra Salinas is situated between 600 and 850 meters above sea level, and comprises 52 hectares (104 acres) of dry-farmed vines ranging in age between 30-40 years old. Founded by the Castaño Family in 2006, it became part of the MG Wines group in 2013, but the original gravity-fed cellar (no pumps used in the winemaking process) and sustainable growing practices (the vineyard is in the process of seeking organic certification) remain constant, contributing to the consistent quality of the wines. The region of Alicante is located along the Mediterranean coast, about 100 miles south of Valencia. The climate is Mediterranean, with pronounced shortages of rain and temperatures that can climb to well over 100 degrees in the summer. The loose, sandy soils impart a distinctive saline, savory note to the minerality of the wines. This white blend is 68% macabeo and 32% moscatel, from hand harvested, dry-farmed grapes. Destemmed, gently pressed, and fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, it is pale yellow in color, clean and bright. A bouquet of tropical fruits, bright citrus, and subtle white flowers in the background introduce a palate that’s silky and fresh, yielding to a long finish of delicate tropical fruits and mineral hints. Sustainably grown.
