Lafleur Grantour is vinified and bottled by Vinitrio, a project created by three winegrowing families with over 40 years of experience. They made wines centered in and around Languedoc-Rousillon, with a particular focus on Minervois and Cabardes. The vineyard for this cuvée is located in the Northeast of Carcassone in Minervois, which is well-known to be a superior terroir in the area. The soils are claw and limestone with a hot, dry, Mediterannean climate, which the marselan grape takes to extremely well. The grape is a genetic cross of grenache and cabernet sauvignon, and it has that grenache-like juicy, red fruit with cab-like supple tannin and full body. It was originally created in 1961 for Languedoc-Roussillon vineyards due to its resistance to heat and diseases, and was later planted in New World countries including Argentina and Brazil. This is satisfyingly full bodied with ripe black and blue fruits, and hints of clove, baking spice, and forest floor.
