Bouchon Family Wines dates back to the 19th century when viticulturalist Emile Bouchon made the move from Bordeaux to Chile and started making wine. Today, Julio Bouchon, fourth generation winemaker, continues the tradition in the Maule Valley with his children, the future generation of winemakers. Julio has dedicated himself to doing intensive research on soil composition and environment to make the most of the land he has and produce stellar, terroir-driven wines. The "Pais Viejo" (Old Pais) is made with pais grapes from vines that are over 100 years old planted in the dry-farmed, coastal area of the Maule. The wine is bright cherry in color and light on its feet, with aromas of red fruit and wildflowers. The palate is juicy and mouthwatering, with more tart red fruit and a touch of citrus peel with some undertones of fresh herbs. This wine is young and fresh, meant to be enjoyed in its youth, and made even more delicious with a slight chill. Sustainably grown.
