Fjord Vineyards is the creation of Casey Erdmann and Matthew Spaccarelli, winemaker at Benmarl Winery, located across the river in Marlboro. The Hudson River flows through one of the oldest fjords in North America, between Storm King Mountain and Mount Beacon, creating a unique microclimate for high quality grapes. Grown primarily in Galicia in northwest Spain and Monção and Melgaço in northwest Portugal, albariño is also cultivated in several places in California, but Fjord's grapes are the only plantings here in New York! It is elegant and expressive, with enticing soft tropical aromas accented with hints of minerals and beeswax; clean orchard fruit on the palate is perfectly balanced by lively acidity and a hint of spiciness. Certified organic.
