Ezio Poggio is valiantly devoted to the revival of one of Italy’s great white grapes, timorasso. Ezio first planted the grape in 2004, re-establishing a long-lost growing zone now known as Terre di Libarna along the mountains that separate Piedmont from Liguria at nearly 2000 ft. above sea level. At 15 hectares total, this small DOC encompasses the highest elevation growing region for timorasso. He uses biodynamic practices in the vineyard, and the wine is aged on its lees for 14 months with frequent battonage, adding depth, complexity, and texture. It has intense minerality with notes of citrus, spice, and herbs; a structured, concentrated palate; and a remarkably long finish. Organically grown.
