Château le Puy sits on the same plateau as the appellations of Pomerol and Saint Emilion, perched on the second highest point in the Gironde at 110 meters above sea level, with a mix of clay, silex, and limestone soils. The estate is certified biodynamic, and no synthetic treatments have ever been used on the vines that average 50 years in age. Jean-Pierre Amoreau and his son, Pascal, oversee the vineyards and cellar. This cuvée is mostly merlot (70%) with the addition of cabernet franc (20%), and cabernet sauvignon (10%), from fruit that is biodynamically grown and fermented with native yeasts. It is both fermented and aged in cement and bottled without filtration, making it very clean and precise. Elegant and expressive, it displays the depth this wonderful area is known for, delivering luscious red and dark fruit tones with a streak of earth on a silky, balanced palate with sturdy tannins and a lingering finish. Biodynamically grown, low-intervention.
