Domaine Prunier-Bonheur is a family-owned and -operated estate consisting of six hectares in the Côte de Beaune within Burgundy. It is run by the fifth generation member, Pascal Prunier-Bonheur, who took over in 1983. His style is one of restraint, and his only goal is to make honest, upstanding wines that are organically grown with respect, offering "a genuine product, the result of hard work without pretense and without excessive ambition." This Monthélie comes from clay-limestone soils from Les Crays vineyard, planted in 1972. The grapes are 100% de-stemmed, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and aged in French oak (10-20% new) for 18 months. It is a classic Burgundy, with balanced fruit, minerality, and savory earthiness and soft tannins. Sustainably grown.
