A winemaking family for over eight generations, Domaine Chopinière du Roy encompasses 26 hectares, mostly in the Loire appellation of Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil, with smaller plantings in Bourgueil and Val de Loire. Christophe and Sophie Ory farm according to “lutte raisonnée” (“reasonable intervention”) methods out of great respect for the flora, fauna, and soil of their vineyards. They have recently received HVE (High Environmental Value) certification, recognizing the domaine for its commitment to sustainability and biodiversity. This delectable blend of chenin blanc and chardonnay displays notes of golden orchard fruit (yellow apple, pear, and apricot), accented by savory crushed herbs, a touch of almond-like nuttiness, and a zesty, lightly briny finish of citrus pith.
