Christian Venier is located in the eastern Touraine, in Cheverny where he refined his natural winemaking skills working with his cousin Thierry & Jean-Marie Puzelat of Clos du Tue Boeuf. After spending seasons assisting with harvests, it wasn’t until the mid-90's that he produced his first vintage. He kept to his philosophy of making wine naturally, remaining a farmer akin to his ancestors, organically farming his approximately 6 hectares of vineyards. This wine is 80% pinot noir and 20% gamay, hand-harvested from Christian’s higher vineyard called ‘Les Hauts de Madon’, fermented whole-cluster using natural yeast in a cement and resin tank; the grapes undergo carbonic maceration, and are bottled unfiltered with no sulfur added. It is light and fruitful but complex with minerality and life. Organically grown, low-intervention, vegan.
