Campolargo is based in family tradition: the owners’ grandfather, Martinho, was making red wine back in the early 1920s and their father Manuel took charge in 1960. The business currently lies with third generation members Jorge Campolargo (who is responsible for the vineyards) and Carlos Campolargo (who heads the cellar and sales.) The 2012 ‘Entre II Santos’ Tinto has some bottle age to it, and shows hints of aged aromas and flavors. It’s a little savory and gamey, with ripe fruit and dried violets on the nose and a dry palate with a touch of dusty tannin.
