Campari dates back to 1860 in Novara, Italy, when Gaspare Campari’s experiments culminated in the invention of a new beverage with a distinct bitter flavor. The secret recipe has been kept the same until today. In 1867, Gaspare opened a bar in the city center which quickly became the center of artistic and cultural life in Milan. Over 150 years later, his Camparino is still a symbol of the city, alongside fashion and design, still serving classic cocktails and modern Campari creations today. Throughout the early and mid 1900s, Campari remained strongly bonded with the art society, appearing in famous works that are featured in modern art museums. During the eighties, a period of great economic and cultural growth, Campari was the star of the “Italian-Milanese aperitif” moment, an exclusive Happy Hour where people went to affirm their social status, be noticed, and network. It is still one of the top bitters used throughout the world today, remaining intimately tied with art and fashion. Campari is an alcoholic spirit obtained from the infusion of bitter herbs, aromatic plants and fruit in alcohol and water. Many have tried to guess the number of ingredients: some say there are 20 or 60, but others list the ingredients at 80. To this day, alcohol and water are the only known ingredients of its unique secret recipe. Its vibrant red color, intense aroma, and distinctive bitter taste make it extremely versatile, and the perfect base for some of the most famous cocktails around the world. 24% ABV
