Bellus was founded by Eleven Madison Park sommelier Jordan Salcito, currently head of beverage operation sat Momofuku, who has focused her company not only on making outstanding wines, but doing so with a social and environmental mindset. She noticed her guests’ simultaneous interest and confusion about wine, and perceived a void in the marketplace for quality wines with excellent value that reflect a distinct sense of place. As you'd expect, the fruit is produced without the addition of chemical fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides. Working closely with winemakers, Salcito set out to create a line of wines that would offer vibrant choices in terms of style and packaging. ‘Bellus’ means “beauty” in Latin, the root language for the world’s classic wine growing region. La Vie en Bulles ("life in bubbles") was made in collaboration with Michael Cruse in California, in an off-dry style inspired by the wines of France's Bugey-Cerdon. This 100% pinot noir offers up soft bubbles, a deliciously fruitful (tart apple pie, raspberries, white cherries, and limestone) character with hints of rose petals and sweet basil, and loads of fun.
