The ArteNOM line of tequilas are made by different distillers, representing selection and regional distinction. Master distiller Sergio Cruz produces the NOM 1414 at Destilería El Ranchito, owned by the Vivanco family. The family has been cultivating highland agave since 1919, and they ferment the agave mash with field-extracted wild yeast and citrus pollen for a more unique terroir-driven character. It’s double distilled in copper pot stills with a four-month aging in American White Oak barrels that were previously used to mature bourbon. Quite vegetal on the nose (think shrubs and roasted sweet potato) it has salted vanilla cookie and allspice notes on the palate with a mild chili heat finish.
