The team of Duncan Arnot Meyers & Nathan Lee Roberts are among the new breed of California wineries that release minute quantities of exceptional wines without owning a single vineyard. This team has quickly developed a stellar reputation. As Antonio Galloni reports in The Wine Advocate, "Arnot-Roberts is one of the most exciting young wineries in California, or anywhere for that matter." Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Lee Roberts have put together a compelling set of wines that highlight the personalities of some of the cooler-climate sites in Northern California. This rosé is made with grapes native to Portugal (80% touriga nacional and 20% tinta cao), but of course grown in Mendocino's Clear Lake region. The grapes were whole cluster-treaded and left on their skins for 24 hours for color and tannin, then basket-pressed into stainless steel where it underwent native yeast fermentation. It is light and lively, with a dry, delicate savory, berry fruit component. This wine offers all the balance of the top Provençal rosés, with its forward fruit and contrasting mineral notes. Organically grown.
