American Fruits Distillery is part of a huge project located in Warwick, NY, less than 40 miles away from our shop and still within the Hudson Valley. It is New York’s first fruit distillery, and is a part of Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery, Black Dirt Distillery, and Doc’s Draft Ciders. Co-founders Jason Grizzanti and Jeremy Kidde purchased a steam fired German copper still in 2001, and in 2002 became the first licensed distillery in the Hudson Valley since Prohibition. Their apple liqueur is a blend of slightly fermented sweet Hudson Valley cider and their apple brandy that is finished and aged in Bourbon barrels. It smells and tastes like fresh ripe apples with a smoky caramel Bourbon finish. It’s wonderful as an aperitif or digestif, can be served with hot apple pie a la mode and drizzled on top, or mixed with sparkling wine to make a fun apple sparkler!
