American Fruits Distillery is part of a huge project located in Warwick, NY, less than 40 miles away from our shop and still within the Hudson Valley. It is New York’s first fruit distillery, and is a part of Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery, Black Dirt Distillery, and Doc’s Draft Ciders. Co-founders Jason Grizzanti and Jeremy Kidde purchased a steam fired German copper still in 2001, and in 2002 became the first licensed distillery in the Hudson Valley since Prohibition. The pear liqueur is a blend of Hudson Valley-grown Bartlett pears and their pear brandy that’s finished in oak. It smells and tastes like fresh, ripe pears with just a hint of vanilla and toasted oak. It’s delicious on its own as a digestif with cheeses or dessert, can be served with poached pears a la mode and drizzled on top, or mixed with sparkling wine for a fun pear sparkler!
